dairy free salsa verde chicken tacos

my girlfriend sent me a recipe that looked really easy and delicious but it had dairy in it so I tried substituting with kite hill's almond milk cream cheese and while I have no idea what the other recipe tastes like this one was bomb! So sooooo good and had a kick to it. I also added chicken thighs instead of chicken breast since breast are always more watery which I don't love. Anyway, I hope your enjoy this one!

 I used Siete's crispy tacos of course! 



Any Salsa Verde will do. I'm pretty sure the one pictured is only local to Austin.

Dairy free salsa verde chicken tacos


Ingredients

4 pounds of chicken thighs
1 12 oz. jar Salsa Verde
1 8oz. of Kite Hill's almond milk plain cream cheese
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp garlic powder

toppings: 

siete hard shell tacos
avocado
fresh cilantro
lime
cooked yellow potatoes

recipe

1. place chicken thighs into crock pot, season with garlic powder and cumin.
2. add the cream cheese in 4 chunks, pour salsa verde over everything.
3. cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
4. shred the chicken with 2 forks and mix everything well after 5 or 3 hours depending on cook time. 
5. stuff taco shells and add toppings  - enjoy!
